

Our film Thin Ice is being shown in France when the 25th edition of the International Mountain Adventure Film Festival takes place the 26th to 30th November 2008.

Anders Østergaard's movie Burma VJ - Reporting from a closed country had its world premiere on CPH:DOX in Copenhagen last week. The film was shown in a crowded Cinema Grand.
On Sunday night, this year's awards were given out at the CPH:DOX Galla.
BURMA VJ won the DOX:AWARD 2008 och AMNESTY AWARD 2008.
Burma VJ's is a documentary about a young video jounalist "Joshua" and his friends. Armed with small handy cams, they keep up the flow of news from their closed country despite risking torture and life in jail. Their material is smuggled out of Burma and broadcast back via satellite.
The main producer is Magic Hour Films in Denmark. WG Film is co-producing from Sweden. Read more about the film!

WG Film proudly presents that Final Image premieres this week on Mar Del Plata Filmfestival in Argentina.
The documentary about the photographer Leonardo Henrichsen who filmed his own murder, is a co-production between Habitacion 1520 (Argentina), Aplapac (Chile), Magic Hour Films (Denmark) och WG Film (Sweden).

The weekend between 3-5th of October WG's film Milkbar won the first price in Golden Chest International TV-Festival in Bulgaria. It won in the category TV Dokumentaries.
The great news came from Sören Schumann at RBB/Arte who co-produced the film with us:
"We succeeded to leave behind the east-west stereotypes twenty years after the iron curtain,
to scale down on a day-by-day level the impact on globalisation and to give hope to all the people who see themselves confronted by its hard challenges".

The LEFTOVERS, a film by Kerstin Übelacker and Michael Cavanagh, is now ready for audience. It premiered at Nordisk Panorama 5 cities Film Festival September 27th.
The Leftovers is about dumpster divers Paul and Mykel going on a waste fuelled journey down the east coast of Australia. With no money, no food, driving only on vegetable fuel they plan to drive 2000 km in 7 days living on nothing but societies waste.

Meanwhile WG film producer Margarete Jangård is closing a mayor contract with French/German broadcaster ZDF/ARTE commisioning editor Sabine Bubeck Paaz. This is a an important brick in the financing of the project. Other broadcasters and funders involved: Sundance Institute, USA, Nordic Film & TV Fund and NRK, Norway, Swedish Film Institue, SVT, TSR, Switzerland, VPRO, The Netherlands, ODISEA, Spain. More co-financiers to be announced soon.

Development money is fundamental if you want to do great films. So 230 000 Euro in development support adds good energy to the projects. This is the third time that WG film get's MEDIA Slate funding and the second time the company gets development support from the Swedish Film Institute programme: Independent Producers support. The money goes to five new projects that will be presented when they are ready to meet the world. One of the projects is Fredrik Gerttens "Bananas".
The American TV-fond ITVS is presenting their winning international projects on IDFA in Amsterdam. One of them is Fredrik Gertten's up coming film Bananas!* that gets a support of 150 000 dollas.

ITVS based in San Fransisco pays 150 000 USD for the American TV rigths of
Fredrik Gerttens coming film Bananas!* The film will be broadcasted nation wide in the US. The film has also recieved 120 000 Euro in support from
MEDIA TV distrubution.
New York based composer Nathan Larson is currently working on the Bananas
score. Nathan has previously worked with directors as Stephen Frears, Todd
Solonz, Lukas Moodyson and more.
